I then put a box next to each group, took a spot between the two, and for the next two hours, I would pick up the eggs from a group and put it in the box next to them also watched a lot of TV, but checked them every commercial break, if not more often(I was truly curious).Īt the end, they had exactly the same number of eggs in each box. The other group I put into place near an Ovi. I lead one group to one side of my pen(large pen) where the only impact was mate boosting. I then split them into 2 random groups, with 1 male and 2 females. I captured and tamed 14 random dodos 2 male and 12 females. I tested out the dodo egg laying mechanic the other night. As such, I moved some of my egg layers, so that eggs that fall before the building renders will hit the ground in a place I can easily access, which is usually at the base of the big rock I build my base on not only will eggs fall through ceilings/foundations, they will also roll down ramps, hills, rocks, and such, unless they catch on something first. I have a large base, so I sometimes see the eggs under the floors and foundations before they render in. This is usually caused, based my experience, by leaving my base without checking for eggs(and having been there long enough for 1 or more laying cycles), flying/riding/running/sauntering out of rendering range, and returning before the eggs despawn. But, if I work around the base and the egg layers stay out of statis, I get plenty of eggs.Įggs can fall through ceiling, foundations, and such. When I log into my base, there are not piles of eggs waiting for me. Also, scorpions are not affected by Ovis as this time.įrom my experience, eggs are only laid when the animals are not in statis. Source is 2000 hours of gameplay with much trial and error locating specific mechanics and over 6000 eggsĮxcept for Dodos, female egg layers have a 1% chance of laying an egg each cycle, or 2% if mate boosted.Įxcept for Dodos, the cycle is every 17 :00, unless you have an Oviraptor(on wander) nearby, in which case the cycle is shortened to 11:20. its also worth noting sometimes there will be multiple eggs under one dino as ticks are often shorter than egg despawn time of 30 mins more visible on dodos than any other since its the shortest time to lay an egg So keep your dinos somewhere you're going to be spending a lot of time get an oviraptor if you can and have one male and many females in the laying area and enjoy picking up your eggs. Oviraptor: having an oviraptor on wander presents another visual buff that increases egg laying % per tick Mate boosted: having mate boosted will increase the chance an egg is laid per tick for the mate boosted dino having one male will mate boost all females of that species within range and thus increase egg laying for them People in the nearby vicinity: dinos enter a state of stasis when no player is within render distance for 10 mins slowing down food consumption and egg laying more people more eggs The basics of it is dinos have a set chance to lay eggs every X amount of time ( I forget % chance and timescale but its something like 10-30 mins but actual time varies with dino species ill reffer to this as a tick) the chance of laying is affected by a few paramaters Once again all eggs are laid at the interval which is 15-20 mins and it will reset if dinos will go into stasis, meaning you get no eggs, and all creatures will lay eggs at exactly same time, so if your trex laid an egg so will your scorp or anyone else and for next 15-20 mins no eggs will be laid.Dinos will actively lay eggs in front of you, stored eggs do not effect egg laying potential of dinos Whats so wrong, please dont spread misinformation, only creature that lays dinos alongside is dodo.įor the rest, there is small chance they lay eggs after exiting stasis, which will bug out half of the eggs anyway and that change is very small.Īll dinos lays eggs exactly at same time, around every 17~ (15-20) mins interval, if during that time your dinos entered stasis, timer is reset, if you have lots of dinos and you see one egg on the ground, that means all other dinos laid eggs or had a chance to do. Moved my raptors last night just before I got off so I'll see if they start laying tonight. So far it has worked for my Dilo's and my Parasaurs. When I find a type of Dino isn't laying eggs very frequently I move them around. Now they have a small chance of laying an egg when they poop. Stasis wasn't removed, but egg laying is no longer tied to it. So what is the deal? I think it was 190 or something. Originally posted by Expletus:I read that stasis was removed several patches ago.
